A PAN Card (Permanent Account Number) is a ten digit number issued by the Income Tax Department in India.

What is a PAN card?

PAN is an acronym for "Permanent Account Number". The PAN Card is issued by the Income Tax Department in India and have same format as a credit card (same size and weight).

When do I need a PAN Card?

A Pan Card is required for all taxpayers who are required to furnish Income Tax Return, in India.

Is it free to get a PAN Card?

Dispatch within India: 96 Rupee
Dispatch outside India: 962 Rupee.

You can pay using Demand Draft, Cheque, Credit Card / Debit Card, Net Banking. Foreign citizens has to use Demand Draft payable at Mumbai.

How to apply for a PAN Card?

You need to fill Form 49A (Foreigns has to use Form 49AA) along some documents and submit it online.

How to check the status of my PAN Application?

You can check the status of your PAN application by using this link. You need the 15 digit "ACKNOWLEDGEMENT NUMBER" or full name and birthday, either one is fine. Please allow up to 3 days before checking the status of you're application.

Alternatively, call TIN Call Centre on 020 - 2721 8080 about the status of your application. The status of the PAN application can also be tracked by sending an SMS - 'NSDLPAN YOUR_15_DIGIT_NUMBER' to 57575
